I first noticed Joe Douglas after watching a ton of Hanford film. Hanford had a host of young runners (Jalen Devine/Will Bishop/Isacc Bernard) that were not only rushing over a 100 yards but breaking off huge runs.
Hanford has seen a lot of success this year on the ground. They have had 3 different running backs run for over 100 yards and I was eager to watch some extended film on them. Some may be out there saying why would you want to watch film on Hanford?
I would be the first to defend them as they have played competitive most of the time this year.
After watching the film one thing was clear to me Hanford has a very solid offensive line. Perhaps top 3 that I've seen in the 3A. One player in particular that stood out to me was LT Joe Douglas 6’4” 240 pound Junior. Hanford loves running to his side mostly threw the C gap off his inside shoulder and they also have success running outside of him too. Joe’s pass protection is also pretty good as he posses good technique. Against Richland he was at times one on one with Sawyer Powell. Powell is a tough block for anyone and he was able to use his speed to get around Douglas but at other times Douglas knocked him on his butt. Douglas looks to know his blocking assignments even when confronted with multiple blitzes on his side. Too many times you see offensive linemen’s assignment get blown because they get confused on whom to pick up when facing blitzes.
Joe Douglas is indeed one of the better 3A offensive linemen and at only a Junior he definently has his best football ahead of him. Hanford’s rushing attack is a clear testament of that.
As we head into the Holiday break here is a updated top 50 list. Wheve been out to more Gyms and will continue to gather info on the best players in the CBBN. Biggest mover this week is Hanford's Joe Douglas.
