Mike Leach is nothing if not quirky. A press conference with Leach at the mic can head in a variety of directions: football, hunting, literature, dictators, no topic is off limits to what some call the best offesive mind in College Football.
Leach is often brutally honest, a rarity in college athletics if not all of sport. His spring critiques of phemom receiver Marques Wilson put the receiver on notice that greatness is earned, not given. Wilson responded (on-field play and off field leadership) in a way that shows Leach's criticism was appropriate, and tolerable in today's world where medals are given for participation and star athletes are treated with kid gloves.
Looking at the Cougars schedule Leach could potentially start off 4-0 and have Cougar Nation whipped into a frenzy for a "Home" game in Seattle vs the Ducks. The rest of the schedule lines up favorably for WSU with Cal, UCLA, and Washington at home.
How high is the bar set for Leach? Six wins and a bowl game are not out of the question if the offense can fire on all cylinders. The big question remains on the defensive side of the ball.
No matter the results it should be an entertaining ride this year for the Cougs, I know I will be tuned in the whole way!
