After looking at the film on Davis...

Postby wsnjerry » Tue Oct 12, 2010 4:31 am

I've just watched the Davis film vs Ike for the 2nd time and these are my thoughts.

If they can cut down on the mistakes their defense is as good as any out there. They have DBs that blanket receivers, physical linebackers and size upfront. At first when watching the game I thought Kolney Cassell was taking to long with his progressions but I was wrong. Cassell had little to no time to throw and when his backs stayed in to protect they were getting lit up by Tinsler and Hunt. When they weren't getting theirs Roberto Rodriguez was.

Gonna be interesting to see how well Chiawana does against the gerth that they have on the line. These guys are scary.

wsnjerry,

Your post is the same subject matter we had yesterday at lunch. I watched the Richland (RHS)/Davis (DHS) game a few weeks ago. I believe the only thing that kept DHS in the game was their elusive QB and his ability to find a receiver at close, mid, and far distances. In the fourth quarter, DHS was able to get their running game going, but with no disrespect to DHS, they couldn’t buy a first down in the 3rd quarter. I also watched the RHS/Chiawana (CHS) game. RHS has struggled to throw the ball all year, so in that game I wasn’t able to witness CHS’s DB group. DHS has struggled to win for years and their freshman and JV teams are having the same difficulties. I’m rooting for DHS to win over CHS simply because it’s obvious from the freshman and JV squads that CHS will have success for years. CHS’s defense in my perception isn’t as quick as RHS’s, but just as sound. DHS can go the length of the field in 5 plays, but CHS is capable everywhere.

Not to put you on the spot for a prediction, but do you believe DHS can outscore CHS?

Also, how will your 4A power ranking shape up since RHS beat DHS, CHS beat RHS, and hypothetically DHS beats CHS???

I see this as a battle of the secondaries. I also see CHS winning that out with Adamson and Zamora being key factors.

Then it will come down to a running game. Again I see CHS and Downing being the key factor.

The only equalizer will be turnovers. He who makes the least wins! I honestly have not seen davis play so I am one sided with this. But I do know this, DHS will have to be extremely talented on all levels to pull this off. I can honestly say that CHS is one of the most well rounded teams I have ever seen coming out of the BIG 9. Lets just hope they don't get complaceant.

Sorry to say, but you're just going to have to watch "The Zone" on Thursday for that... As for Manny's pick? I think Davis might keep "The big Mo" and beat Chiawana.

renzn,

If Davis beats Chiawana then yes I believe they will be the #1 ranked team on the power rankings. Because I believe it will be because the got better since they lost to Richland.

As for my prediction, we'll see Thursday night.

Come on Jerry!!

This will be a good test for both teams. CHS has not had anyone throw all night long against them. They have passed the tests at slowing teams running game. DHS has been ran on before and hopefully for them has found the answer. IMO I think CHS is going to be to much for Davis but we shall see. This one is for all the marbles! Good luck to both teams!

Davis and Richland are tough opponents and great football teams. Chiawana on the other hand, is a step above everyone else. Just like Kamiakin is the Big XI 3A powerhouse, Chiawana is the 4A version. No one will beat these teams as long as they stay healthy! Sorry for all you hopefull romantics, but it's not the year of DHS or RHS! It's all about CHS!!! We'll all know for sure friday night.

No doubt it will be a great game in Yakima Friday night! Chiawana will come out on top, great article on www.washingtonpreps.com about Chiawana Riverhawks. Two high powered offenses will be showcased but Chiawana'a D will win the game. Richland beat Davis, and Chiawana beat Richland. Chiawana will be on the road but playing for leauge championship.
