WOW .... I'm sorry I found this site so late. For what it's worth, the Kamiakin Freshmen team went undefeated and can be very proud of a great season. As Chi Chi mentioned, the Kamiakin/Southridge game was a great one .... went to overtime and a fumbled turnover gave Kamiakin a chance that they took advantage of. Some great blocks and running resulted in a TD and OT win for the Braves. I'm looking forward to watching the CBBN Frosh in coming years. There are some excellent young athletes in the league and all of us die hard football fans are going to have fun watching them develop.

Spring 2011 football camps

Postby renzn » Thu May 26, 2011 3:01 pm

RHS begins their upcoming season on May 31st with a spring camp. They're heading to Boise State for 5 days at the end of their first camp. If your son's team is also heading to Boise, please respond as it'd be interesting to hear what other local schools are going.

P.S. Prosser's former Head Football Coach, Tom Moore is now the new Offensive Coordinator for RHS. In 23 seasons, Moore produced an astounding 86% winning percentage with a 234-34 record. Four state championships, four runner-up trophies and 21 league titles. Exciting days for RHS.

I Think Richlands the only CBBN team going.

Davis and Southridge going to Eastern.

Hanford, Pasco, Chiawana, Kennewick, Kamiakin and Walla Walla doing tricity football camp.

Eastmont and Wenatchee have their own camps.

I believe?

Chiawana also went to WSU football camp.

J/V RHS -vs- Kiona-Benton...where's Pasco?

Postby renzn » Wed Sep 07, 2011 7:37 am

My intent isn't to create a debate about the Pasco football program. Initially, the J/V RHS squad was scheduled to play PHS yesterday. They cancelled and KI-BE valliantly stepped in. I say valliantly, because the RHS boys have been playing football for much of the spring and summer without playing a game and KI-BE saved the day. I won't mention the score as I'm sure most will assume the worst with a single A school with 31 kids going up against a four A school with a zillion. Whatever is plaguing Pasco, I hope they can overcome it. The RHS/PHS rivalry was always exciting to anticipate.

As for the game yesterday, at QB, McGeorge and Witby switched off regularly with both showing good awareness and fluid throwing motions. This exciting battle will surely last for the next 3 years. RHS backfield is roughly the same as last year with speed and depth. The O. Line is much bigger with many boys nearing the upper 200's.

Ki-BE standouts were QB #7 and DT #65. Number 7 is gutsy and #65 is roughly 6'0 mid 190's and is as fast as any linebacker RHS has. He was the sole player that was able to compete 1 on 1 with the offensive line for RHS even though he was outsized.

Congrats and thanks to KI-BE for stepping up to gain experience and looking forward the the cross-town matchup between RHS and HHS next week.

That's great. Way to step up KiBe, that is what it's all about. These kids work all summer to play. For the amount of time they put in practice the game time they get is much less in comparison. It would have been a shame for them to lose out on that playing time.

Chiawana JV played Hanford last night at Edgar Brown. Chiawana pulled it out 7 - 0. Both teams moved the ball at times but the Riverhawk D was too much. I have to talk about this one play. There was a play in the 3rd quarter with Chiawana in Hanford territory about the 45-40 when the Chiawana QB threw a quick pass out to the WR which looked to be a bubble screen setting up. The Hanford CB read it perfect and jumped it in full stride. The Chiawana WR gave chase about 5+ yards behind and their RB #27 was another 5 behind him. It was a sure touchdown to tie things up, everybody in the stands thought the same, but #27 never gave up on the play and caught him at the 5 yard line. The D held and Hanford never scored. A play like that dosent show up in the Box Score but it changed the game. It was great hustle and effort, a play that a lot people give up on.

BLT,

This is neither a knock on Hanford or Chiawana, but what happened? Last year CHS and RHS freshmenn both handidly beat HHS freshmen. I know many of the HHS freshmen are suiting up for varsity. Whether they're flipping back and forth isn't of my knowledge, but my question to you is, has Chiawana lost many of their sophomores to varsity? Has Chiawana a low turnout? Hanford had a large line when they played Richland's freshmen last year and had a couple good skilled players, but that was it. Why do you think the score was so low and so close? I know CHS J/V is supposed to play Pasco on the 12th. Maybe you'll play Ki-Be instead. Good luck either way. RHS plays HHS childhood playmates against playmates. Always entertaining.

Renzn,

There is 19 sophomores on varsity, I believe 4 start on offense including the QB and 3 others start on Defense. A lot of the score was first game stuff but yes many of the freshman from last year are playing varsity. Playing a same town rival is great as you stated most of the kids played grid kids together and know each other. Good luck it sounds like Richland is building quite the program and will be strong.

J/V RHS 48 HHS 0. It was 27 to 0 in the first 2 1/2 minutes of the game. How does a team recover? On this occassion Hanford couldn't. There was poor Nathan McGeehee and Ben Kelly for Hanford who also suit up in varsity games and played with my son in grid-kids and at Chief Joseph unable to do anything against Richland. I don't fault the boys, I fault their coaching. The RHS coaching, was prepared, organized, showed discipline and encouragement in equal messures all game. The mercy rule with the clock was started in the second period. The head coach for Hanford needs to be talked with by their AD. He called plays and then through up his arms in either disgussed or frustration. At half time, a volunteer assistant spoke with their dejected team because the coach refused to stand near them. Both QB's and all 6 RB's had good games, but the offensive and defensive lines for RHS were unrelenting. One sack while RHS was on the HHS 2 yard line, but no other plays for loss yards all game. The linebackers and DB group for RHS were swarming and their coverage was excellent. Next game is against Davis on the 26th.

Chiawana vs Ike JV. wow what a blow out. Riverhawks runningback/quarterback #24 Trent Flieger carried the ball 27 times in the 1st half for 205 yards and 4 touchdowns. And Chiawana's D didn't give up very much in that 1st half. Even after pulling most the starters on both sides of the ball early into the second half Ike had no answer for the Chiawana Defense or their running game. Flieger carried the ball maybe 16 times in the 1st quarter alone. Look out for Chiawana. Graff puts those kids in positon to make plays but they don't just make plays, they seem to blow plays wide open. In a couple weeks when CHS plays RHS is when we will find out who the real studs are in the Big 9 JV division

Oh yeah forgot, after the clock running the entire second half the Final Score was Chiawana 54 and Eisenhower 0. Through 3 gmaes Chiawana JV has only given up 13 points I believe.
